EGJ – TRASHY THURSDAY #2
Hello friends! I hope you all had a great week. I’ve been super busy this week. We had to go to Atlanta for some doctor appointments for Larry the first of the week. My mom and I spent Tuesday hitting some thrift stores and had a fabulous time.
I didn’t think my Mom would enjoy the thrift shops because she does not like to dig for treasures. The Goodwill store that we went to was super organized though and huge! I haven’t been in one that big before. It was a fun day.
Today, I’m going to share a couple of flips that I worked on last week that are super easy and lots of fun.
I found these two sweet white vases at Goodwill for $1.99 each. I could not walk past them. I’m a sucker for all bud vases. I have to make myself leave them behind all the time. These were calling out to me though. I gave in. I had no idea what I would do with them and decided to just put them on the table and call it a day. My very favorite thing is flowers. I don’t care if they are fresh or dead. LOL As you can tell in the photo, dried are beautiful too.
I started out by cutting some of my Uncle Danny’s pink shiplap and painting it with Waverly Chalk Paint. I then attached the wood together to make a shelf. Since I had cut the pieces of wood, I didn’t like how the edge looked so I looked around for something to cover both edges up. I found some wooden beads in my stash that I painted white. They took care of the front of the wood but I still needed something for the top.
When we moved into our first beach trailer, there was an old porch light that the previous owner had left behind. Of course, Larry threw it in the trash. It was a pile of rust. It was all bent and broken. It was beautiful! I dug it out and threw it in my stash – that was about 8 years ago. I’m happy to say that that beat up old light fixture just got some new life on these sweet little vases.
After I got it all put together, I used some E6000 glue to add the white vase. I found some dried flowers and added those. This project turned out super cute and I’m so happy to finally use that rusted porch light.
I painted the bottom and top trays with Waverly chalk paint and cut a couple of legs that I bought from Home Depot down to the sizes I needed. I then gave the legs a coat of chalk paint and distressed them with some fine sandpaper.
I used a drill bit to drill holes in all three trays. I then attached the legs to the tray with E6000 glue and a screw.
