some of the oldies are still the goodies
I’ve been putting a lot of thought into the new year and what I would like to accomplish. As I think about 2018, I feel very blessed. I have been blessed too much to list on this page, but here are a few of the highlights:
PLUS, I became a Young Living Essential Oil distributor, sold our house, and celebrated many birthdays, weddings, and showers with family and friends – just to name a few.
As the sun comes up on this first day of 2019, I look forward to a new year and new adventures. But this morning, I have been reflecting on things of old. I miss a simple lifestyle; I miss everyone getting along; I miss not having to worry about my grandchildren walking around the block and playing outside; I miss kindness; I miss a slower pace; I miss simple every day joy.
I have also put a lot of thought in my normal New Year Resolutions. I have been thinking about that subject for weeks – trying to find something to list that I haven’t failed at obtaining every single year that I have been making resolutions. I have realized that perhaps I never really wanted any of the things I wrote down badly enough. Maybe my life needed to stay the same because I was too ______ (insert excuse here.) This blog for instance: I bought my url five years ago and this is my very first post. I’m sure that five years ago doing this blog might have been on my resolution list. So, I guess I can say that I have finally checked off a resolution (from 2013.)
I have been told that if you write your resolutions down you are more likely to commit. SO, after much thought, I have decided maybe a word of the year would be better for me. That way there won’t be a list of resolutions staring me in the face. And I think if I make sure I’m doing the things that will make that word possible, all my resolutions will fall into place. My word of 2019 is Peace. Which means I will be passionate and purposely working on things like spending more time with my Bible; dropping 25 pounds; being present with my family and friends; growing my business; and working less + playing more.
Please don’t get me wrong – I love change and I’m a big dreamer. I have a big wish list and lots in store for 2019: my year of Peace. One thing is my retirement at the end of the year! I’m on the official I-have-less-than-one-year countdown and am working through the idea for a home event business (more on that soon!) So, without further ado, let 2019 begin! I’m still the same girl as last year. I still think that the oldies are truly the goodies in life and I look forward to the new things that come along this year and will conquer my resolutions while living in peace.
What’s your word?
