Earth Girl Blankets: cozy crochet creations

I have mentioned before that I am not a hoarder and I stand by that. I just like to use up all of my yarn and I have a habit of saving every little piece from my projects. They go in a jar that makes a beautiful decoration for my craft room until I get to make one of my Earth Girl blankets. These blankets are all from scraps of projects that I have made before to gift to one of my beloved peeps. All of the blankets are made by using three strands of yarn together which makes them really heavy and cozy. Since they are made with scraps of projects past, there are never two just alike. They all get a super cute tag with instructions on how to take care of them and they get a number – you know, ’cause they are special like that.

Earth Girl 422-0 is the first one that I made. I just realized that I never took a photo of it finished. It is on the back of our couch in our bedroom. The pink ball of yarn in the photo was left over from our granddaughter, Isabella’s, blanket – one of the first crochet projects I created.

The one above, I made for my granddaughter – Skylar Rain. It is by far the prettiest one to date. And, it went to the prettiest little girl in the world. 🙂 The lighting was off on my photo but I was in a hurry to get this one wrapped and ready to go to the hospital!

If Skylar Rain had been a boy, Cooper, this would have been his. It is still in waiting for a sweet baby boy to take it home. It’s strange how one year all of my friends have girls and the next year they all have boys. I’m sure it will find a home very soon.

Named after my BFF, Lola, because of its sassy little border, Lolabridgida is a small blanket waiting on a home. Even though it is small – it is extremely warm and heavy. This one, as well as the other pink ones, have the most beautiful textured yarns that I bought when I first started crocheting.

Brother – Earth Girl 422-4

I have one on my hook. Another blue one. This one is named Brother – Earth Girl 422-4 because I started it on the way to our family Christmas trip to Gatlinburg last year and had my grandsons in the car with us. Kosta kept telling me Kylo was his brother which touched my heart. Brothers for life.

I love making these scrap blankets. They all help me have a happy face and bring back so many memories of gifts given to the most special people in my life.

What is your go to gift?

Until next time,
